It began with a list appearing in issue
no. 3 (December 1980) of the I.A.P.P.P. Communications. I.A.P.P.P.
set up a number of Committees to deal with various areas of activity
related to photoelectric photometry as carried out by amateur astronomers
and/or with small telescopes.
Over the next several years, these Committees
were added to, consolidated, merged, or redefined. Starting with issue
no. 5 (August 1981) current Committees, and their Chairmen, were listed
on the Credo page of each issue of the Communications.
Some Committee Chairmen published formal
Committee Reports in one or more issues of the Communications.
The practice of printing a detailed listing
of current Committees on the Credo page ceased as of issue no. 27
(March 1987) of the Communications.
Information related to those areas of
activity continued, however, to be exchanged (questions asked and
answered, problems solved, expertise provided) without explicit recourse
to the formal Committee structure. This information exchange continues
to this day.
Below is a listing (by subject area) of
all I.A.P.P.P. Committees that were, at one time or another, established.
