I.A.P.P.P. Wings
As announced in the Editorial in issue
no. 26 (December 1986) of the Communications, I.A.P.P.P. has sprouted
"Wings". The first regional Wing was the United Kingdom Wing, headed
by Andrew J. Hollis.
The idea is to facilitate really effective
interaction on the relatively local level, since I.A.P.P.P. is, afterall,
nothing more than the sum total of members helping members wherever
and whenever and however they communicate.
So that this idea results in an augmentation
of what I.A.P.P.P. does, rather than a fractionation of this already
international organization, the following guidelines were proposed.
1. Members of a Wing should be members
of I.A.P.P.P. in good standing, i.e., dues paid, so that all can continue
to receive the Communications, which contain contributions from all
over the world.
2. There may be local membership and local
dues in addition to (but not instead of) I.A.P.P.P. membership and
dues, if the Wing itself wants to do that.
3. When a Wing organizes a meeting, call
it officially an "I.A.P.P.P. Symposium". Don't call it a "Regional
Meeting", because all I.A.P.P.P. Symposia are, afterall, implicitly
regional anyway.
4. All Symposia, whether initiated by
a specific Wing or not, should be announced in the Announcements feature
of the new IAPPP.org web site.
5. If it is difficult or an additional
expense for non-U.S. members of I.A.P.P.P. to write checks in U.S.
dollars, Wing members can pay the equivalent amount in their local
currency to the Wing Leader or contact person. That contact person,
then, can remit one check in U.S. dollars with instruction to "add
12 months to the subscriptions of the following I.A.P.P.P. members
..
.". Below is a listing of all I.A.P.P.P.
Wings that have been announced to date. Several Wings have published
"Wing Reports" in various issues of the Communications, some on multiple
occasions. It is not guaranteed that all of the Wings listed below
are still active.
