I.A.P.P.P.

Scientific Papers Published by Amateurs

A recurring feature in the I.A.P.P.P. Communications is a listing of all papers published by amateurs (as authors or co-authors) in mainstream astronomical journals (not including the I.A.P.P.P. Communications itself) based on photoelectric (including CCD, of course) observations.

To date the total count entered into the feature "Papers Published by Amateurs" is 518, which is an impressive number. This total would be even higher now except for the fact that the Astronomy Library at Dyer Observatory , where the entries have been prepared, has been dispersed to five different locations on and off the Vanderbilt Campus and it is now difficult for the I.A.P.P.P. Co-Editor responsible for this feature to access. Steps are already being taken to continue compilation of this valuable listing by soliciting input from other astronomers both amateur and professional. See below, concerning this web site page.

Astronomy journals and publications represented in this count of 518 include:

Acta Astronomica
The Astronomer
Astronomical Journal
Astronomy and Astrophysics
Astrophysical Journal
Astrophysical Journal Letters
Astrophysical Journal Supplement
Astrophysics and Space Science
Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society
The Observatory
I.A.U. Information Bulletin of Variable Stars
Journal of the American Association of Variable Star Observers
Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy
Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada
Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand
Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
Monthly Notices of the Astronomical Society of South Africa
Publication of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific

and this is not a complete list of journals.

Astronomers, professional and amateur, knowing of a recent paper that should be included on this "Papers Published by Amateurs" web page are invited to contact douglas.s.hall@vanderbilt.edu.

Please include:
1. The title of the article.
2. The journal.
3. The date of publication.
4. The page number or numbers.
5.The full list of co-authors in order.
